You may or may-not be aware that each local authority has a Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) inspection by Ofsted and the Quality Care Commission. This is separate to social care inspections, and school Ofsted inspections.

Under the local area SEND inspection framework, inspectors will look at how local areas meet their responsibilities to children and young people (from birth to age 25) who have special educational needs or disabilities (or both).

During these visits, inspectors will also spend time speaking to children, young people and their parents or carers. Parents/young people who have used SENDIASS can be asked to talk to the inspectors about their experience.
